For DataStar’s search needs for the US Navy, PSI relies on the dtSearch Engine. PSI uses the dtSearch Engine in three different ways for DataStar’s US Navy implementation.

“One of the US Navy’s needs was for a repository of engineering specifications like data models, code dictionaries, specific ontologies and business rules,” says Dr. Geoffrey Malafsky, CEO, PSI. “We treat each of these as an object, and use dtSearch to index metadata accompanying each object as well as to full-text search XML files associated with each object.”

“The second way we use dtSearch is in our consolidation of very large enterprise warehouses of data,” continues Dr. Malafsky. “We use dtSearch as the key mechanism for record by record merger and semantic realignment.”

The third way that PSI uses the dtSearch Engine with DataStar for the US Navy is after “creating a very large data set including terabytes of data that has been semantically merged, we then provide an interface to the users so they can search the semantically aligned data.”
